Target Group

ABSSS’s target group includes adivasis (scheduled tribes), dalits (scheduled castes), women, children, landless labourers and mine workers. They are the most deprived, marginalised and exploited groups of the Bundelkhand region. Their perpetual victimisation, marginalisation and harassment by influential people as well as by the administration has rendered them submissive and without the means to fight for their own rights.

The target group is located in six districts in Bundelkhand region and two adjoining districts of Allahabad and Sonbhadra, which have pockets that are quite similar to Bundelkhand’s in physical and socio-economic terms. Altogether, at present, ABSSS covers a population of over 250,000.
